Trailer Of The Week - Week #30

If you enjoyed Ben Affleck's Gone Baby Gone as much as we did then you might want to prepare yourselves to get very excited. The Town, Affleck's next project, had its trailer released online this week having aired before certain performances of Inception in the US. Returning to his native Boston, the story, which Affleck co-adapted from Chuck Hogan's book Prince Of Thieves, revolves around a gang of bank robbers and their relationship to a single woman who could bring them all down. The bad news? Affleck is also starring in the film alongside Jeremy Renner, Chris Cooper and Rebecca Hall. His acting (and acting choices) have improved recently but we still don't think he's a sure bet. File in the 'cautiously optimistic' folder.

Trailer Of The Week is a regular Film Intel feature which picks a different tasty trailer of delectable goodness every week and presents it on Sunday for your viewing pleasure. Sometimes old, sometimes new, sometimes major, sometimes independent, sometimes brilliant, sometimes a load of old bobbins: always guaranteed to entertain. 1. I loved Gone Baby Gone, but I have a bad feeling this trailer shows way too much of the movie. Hopefully there's a good deal of misdirection in it to keep me not waiting for trailer scenes to happen.

  2. I am with you on that and my optimism for this film is tempered by a) Ben Affleck being in front of the camera and b) the reveal in the trailer which I really hope happens very early on in the film. Can only imagine that it does.

  3. The trailer did give away far too much, but I think "cautiously optimistic" is a great way to describe the film's prospects, if only because Affleck has only directed once before. The story appears to have some real authenticity to it and, like you mentioned, you really couldn't ask for a better cast.

  4. Yup, absolutely. Have seen one website (which shall remain nameless) describing Affleck this week as 'Boston's answer to Scorsese' which I think is being just a tad too optimistic.
