Now look, we know as well as you do that really, secretly, deep down... very deep down, you all love Johnny English. OK, on the surface it may be a little bit twee and yes, it does fit very comfortably into that dirtiest of dirty genres; the family-friendly comedy, but really, once you look at it in the right way, those things are strengths as well as weaknesses. It's relatively funny in a silly, Saturday-afternoon-with-the-kids way and some of the jokes have obviously registered enough for them to feature elsewhere (look closely at the original trailer for The Green Hornet). If it wasn't for the completely miss-firing conclusion, it would be excellent... well, alright, it'd be at least average. News earlier this week that a sequel had commenced initial filming couldn't have been more welcome.
