Interestingly, in the official press release, The Academy revealed that in 2001-2008 the new voting process would have led to their being scenarios where 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 films were nominated for Best Picture. What they failed to reveal though was how many films would have been nominated under the new system in 2010 and 2011, when the ten-nomination system was first used, and in 2009, the last year of the five-nomination system.
