Trailer Of The Week: Dumb And Dumber To

There are several things that the trailer for Dumb And Dumber To fails to do. It fails to show us a joke that feels anywhere near the standard of the original film, the Farrelly Brothers' first and arguably still their most successful comedy. It fails to convince that this will be a return to form for the brothers, whose most recent releases include the critically panned Hall Pass and The Three Stooges - the latter of which also lost a potentially brilliant trio of casting in Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carrey, an actor famously wary of making sequels who returns to one of his breakout roles here. But, most crucially of all, it fails to win the argument that Dumb And Dumber needs a sequel two decades after its release. All warning signs that could add up to Dumb And Dumber To becoming one big fail, quite possibly of epic proportions.

  1. Exactly. I saw this trailer with the lowest expectations considering how bad the Farrelly Brothers have been and.... it was pretty bad. Not once did I laugh. Instead, I cringed.

    1. Agreed. The whole thing just feels incredibly sub-par. Annoyingly I'll probably end up seeing it because of Carrey and Daniels returning, then regretting going against my initial impulse to give this a wide berth.
